Physik-Projekt Tage 2026

From the 9th to the 12th of September, we had the Physik-Projekt Tage (Physics Project Days) 2026 at the RWTH Aachen University. In this project, school girls from all over Germany were visiting us and working on a research project supervised by scientists for this time. I supervised a group of four students, which were working on the identification of stellar clusters using Gaia data. They managed to uncover the stellar clusters in the data and even determined the age of the stars. What was even more impressive was their ability to understand and interpret their scientific findings and its implications. This culminated in a presentation of their results in the colloquium of the project on Saturday.
The basis of this project was code that I specifically wrote for it. All the package, notebooks for the students to work through, and descriptions in German and English are available on my Github.
